It’s a hefty 103-page file that includes rules such as the “citizenship requirement rule” (Rule 41) that states athletes must be a “national” of the country they represent in competition. And, of course, Rule 43, which details the World Anti-Doping Code and the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of Manipulation of Competitions.A total of 40 surfers (20 men and 20 women) will qualify for surfing at the 2020 Olympics. A maximum of four surfers (2 men and 2 women) can compete from each country’s National Olympic Committee — the governing body in each country that regulates athlete participation in the Olympics. Athletes will qualify for the Olympics if they meet performance qualification criteria at one of the following events: 2019 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT): 10 men and eight women2019 ISA World Surfing Games: Four men and four women2020 ISA World Surfing Games: Four men and six womenContinental representation: With the exception of North and South America, the highest-placed eligible athlete from each continent at the 2019 ISA World Surfing Games (someone who didn’t yet qualify) gains one spot. For the Americas, continental representation comes from the highest-placed eligible athlete (who hasn’t already qualified through other events) at the 2019 Pan American Games. Host nation slot: The Olympic Games guarantees one male and one female place for the host nation, in this case Japan. If athletes from Japan qualify regularly (through one of the events above), the host nation slots will be reallocated to the highest-ranked eligible surfers from the 2020 World Surfing Games.See the full qualification criteria for more details. There are many types of surfboards, but the primary categories include shortboard and longboard. Olympic surfers will use shortboards, which are known for their pointed noses and excellent maneuverability. Sergei Bobylev/Getty Images When and where is surfing happening? The 2020 Olympic Games surfing program will take place at Tsurigasaki Beach in Chiba, Japan from July 24 to August 9, 2020.Check out the full Olympic schedule of events here. What will the events be like? Surfing consists primarily of two disciplines: shortboard and longboard. At the 2020 Olympics, all athletes will surf shortboard. A shortboard refers to any board that’s shorter than seven feet in length. They usually have a pointed nose and are lightweight. They’re designed to be quick and accurate, and are more suited to fast and powerful waves than are longboards. In heats of 20 to 30 minutes, Olympic judges will analyze four athletes at a time, with the top two scores advancing to the next round. Because surfing conditions are so variable, the IOC has allowed for the surfing competition to take place over 16 days in the case that weather presents safety concerns or unfair circumstances. How will the athletes be judged?Judges will rate athletes on the type and difficulty of maneuvers performed. One example of an advanced surfing move is the aerial, where a surfer finds a ramp within a wave and launches off of the lip, gains air and lands back on the face of the wave. For even more jaw drops, a surfer would spin in a complete circle while in the air and still manage to land gracefully — a surfing move known as the 360.The judges will also account for speed, power and flow. Like other Olympic events, judges will score surfers from 1 to 10 with two decimals, for example, 7.91. Only one surfer may ride a wave at any given time, and athletes may lose points for failing to use common surfer etiquette, which rules that the surfer closest to the peak of a wave has right of way for that wave. Brian Bielmann / AFP/Getty Images 100 years ago, Duke Kahanamoku dreamt of surfing in the Olympic Games. He was a five-time Olympic medalist for swimming, but in between Olympic competitions and after his retirement, Kahanamoku, a Native Hawaiian and the “father of modern surfing,” traveled internationally to popularize the sport of surfing. Back in the early 1900s, it was known only to Hawaii, which had yet to become a US state. Kahanamoku would be proud to know that in 2016, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) unanimously decided to include surfing in the Olympic Games for the first time. Surfing will debut at the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan. Keep reading for everything you need to know about the new Olympic sport.

Rescuers sit in a boat on Lake Victoria on 22 September, 2018, during searches for victims a day after the ferry MV Nyerere capsized. Photo: AFPTanzania declared the whole nation was in mourning Sunday as the first dozen bodies were buried from a devastating ferry capsize on Lake Victoria that left people 224 dead.Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa led “national funerals” on the island of Ukara, where the MV Nyerere had been coming in to dock on Thursday. He spoke of “great mourning by the whole nation” as the first coffins were placed in individual graves, many of the victims unidentified. The remainder of the dead were to be lain to rest later or taken away by families wishing for privates funerals. The prime minister said a memorial would be built on Ukara.Hopes had faded of finding any more survivors three days after the disaster, even after rescuers pulled out an engineer on Saturday who had holed up in an air pocket in the upturned vessel. But Majaliwa said divers would continue the grim search in the waters around the boat. The ferry would also be refloated. He updated the death toll to 126 women, 71 men, 17 girls and 10 boys. Just 41 people survived.- ‘Overloading’ blamed for tragedy -Transport Minister Isack Kamwelwe said 265 people had been on board the ferry, which had an official capacity of 100 or 101 passengers. The prime minister said initial investigations suggested overloading was one of the causes of the accident.”We have already arrested all those people in charge of operating and supervising the MV Nyerere. Questioning has begun,” he said.A broader commission of inquiry into the disaster would also be set up, Majaliwa added. One survivor was an engineer who shut himself into a “special room” with enough air for him to stay alive until he was found, said local lawmaker Joseph Mkundi.Transport minister Kamwelwe said on Saturday that 172 of the bodies had been identified by relatives.State television cited witnesses reporting that more than 200 people had boarded the ferry at Bugolora, a town on the larger Ukerewe Island. It was market day, which usually sees the vessel packed with people and goods.Witnesses told AFP that the ferry sank when passengers rushed to one side to disembark as it approached the dock. Others blamed the captain, saying he had made a brusque manoeuvre.- Grief and anger -Dozens of wooden coffins had lined the shore on Saturday, waiting to be seen by families as police and volunteers sought to keep hundreds of curious locals at bay.Aisha William came to collect the body of her husband. “He left on Tuesday around noon, but he never came home. I do not know how I am going to raise my two children,” she said.Ahmed Caleb, a 27-year-old trader, railed at a tragedy “which could have been prevented. I’ve lost my boss, friends, people I went to school with,” he sighed. The ageing vessel, whose hull and propellers were all that remained visible above water, was also carrying cargo, including sacks of maize, bananas and cement, when it capsized.Tanzanian President John Magufuli on Friday ordered the arrest of the ferry’s management and declared four days of national mourning.”It appears clear that the ferry was overloaded”, he said, adding that the government would cover the funeral expenses. With a surface area of 70,000 square kilometres (27,000 square miles), oval-shaped Lake Victoria is roughly the size of Ireland and is shared by Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. It is not uncommon for ferries to capsize on the lake, and the number of fatalities is often high due to a shortage of life jackets and the fact that many local people cannot swim.In 1966, more than 800 people lost their lives on Lake Victoria when the MV Bukoba sank off the mainland town of Mwanza, according to the Red Cross.
View of the damaged caused by Hurricane Michael in Mexico Beach, Florida, on 12 October 2018. Photo: AFPThe death toll from Hurricane Michael rose to at least 16 on Friday amid fears it would continue to climb as search-and-rescue teams scour the debris of the Florida town that bore the brunt of the monster storm.”Mexico Beach is devastated,” Florida governor Rick Scott said of the town where Michael made landfall as a Category 4 storm on Wednesday.”It’s like a bomb went off,” Scott said as he toured the town of 1,000 people on the Gulf of Mexico. “It’s like a war zone.”Rescue teams were using sniffer dogs in Mexico Beach on Friday in a search for victims who may be buried under the rubble in the debris-strewn community.Brock Long, head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), warned that he expected the number of deaths to rise.”I hope we don’t see it climb dramatically but I have reasons to believe we still haven’t got into some of the hardest hit areas,” he said.”What’s happening is search and rescue is trying to get into the rubble to make sure that there’s nobody covered up, trying to assess if there’s additional casualties there,” Long added.Dozens of structures in Mexico Beach — homes, shops and restaurants — were lifted off their foundations by storm surge and 155-mile per hour (250 kph) winds and moved hundreds of feet inland or smashed to bits.”Very few people live to tell what it’s like to experience storm surge,” Long said. “Storm surge causes the most amount of loss of life.”SticksMembers of City Miami Fire Rescue look for victims in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael in Mexico Beach, Florida, on 12 October 2018. Photo: AFPState officials said Mexico Beach was under mandatory evacuation orders but some residents decided to stay and try to ride out the storm.”You hope that somehow at the last minute a bunch of people got up and left or went somewhere else,” Florida Senator Marco Rubio told CNN.But judging from the number of homes reduced to “sticks,” he said “my sense is they are going to find more victims.”Bob Tenbrunson, a Mexico Beach retiree, rode out the storm at his daughter’s house in nearby Panama City and returned to survey the damage to his home.”I was going to stay here until it turned to a Cat 4,” he said. “So I followed the mandatory evacuation order and left with my wife.”Luckily we did not get a surge,” Tenbrunson said of his home. “I’ve got two trees on the roof and a couple of holes on the roof. I have been trying to patch it up the best I can.”The rest of Mexico Beach did not fare as well, and most of the beachfront homes, restaurants and stores were obliterated by the storm.”I spent my life savings and retirement to stay here so I can’t sell it now,” Tenbrunson said. “I just have to be hopeful that (the town) will be rebuilt and fixed.”Some residents arrived Friday with vans or moving trucks, hoping to recover as many personal effects from their splintered homes as they could.Others came with nothing — as there was nothing left to save.At least four deaths from the storm have been confirmed in Florida, five in Virginia, one in Georgia and three in North Carolina.US media on Friday quoted authorities in Jackson County, Florida, as reporting three deaths there, bringing Michael’s toll to at least 16.The latest two deaths in North Carolina occurred in McDowell County when a car struck a tree that had fallen across a road, officials said.Hundreds of thousands of people remain without electricity in Florida, Georgia and Virginia, and officials say it could be weeks before power is fully restored.Trump to visitA US flag is seen next to a fire department station damaged by Hurricane Michael in Mexico Beach, Florida on 12 October 2018. Photo: AFPPresident Donald Trump said he planned to visit Florida and Georgia.”People have no idea how hard Hurricane Michael has hit the great state of Georgia,” Trump tweeted. “I will be visiting both Florida and Georgia early next week. We are working very hard on every area and every state that was hit — and we are with you!”Michael was the most intense hurricane to strike the Florida Panhandle since record keeping began in 1851.Many of the damaged Florida buildings were not built to withstand a storm above the strength of a Category 3 hurricane on the five-level Saffir-Simpson scale.About 5,000 US servicemen were deployed to help with relief and recovery efforts, the Pentagon said, using 100 helicopters and 1,800 high-water vehicles.Tyndall Air Force Base, home to the F-22 stealth fighter, suffered extensive damage, according to aerial photos of the coastal facility. The base was evacuated ahead of the hurricane and the costly fighter planes were flown to other installations out of the path of the storm.
Indie games have the opportunity to offer up an experience that is both fun and different to the big commercial games that get forced down out throats. The latest game from Lexaloffle Games is a perfect example of this, combining an arena shooter with a completely destructible environment made out of voxels. The game is called Voxatron, and is described as follows by the the main man behind Lexloffle, Joseph White:Voxatron is an arena shooter that takes place in a world made of voxels (little cubes, kind of). Everything in the game is displayed in a virtual 128x128x64 voxel display, including the menus and player inventory. If you look closely, you can sometimes see the inventory (score/life/ammo) casting a shadow on some of the objects on the ground. He also describes it as “Robotron set in a 3d destructible world.”However you view the preview video, it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun to play. Voxatron will be available to buy later this year, but a demo will be made available too. We can’t wait.Read more at Lexaloffle Games
VimFx improve Firefox keyboard use by Martin Brinkmann on July 01, 2016 in Firefox – Last Update: June 25, 2017 – 2 commentsVimFx is an add-on for the Firefox web browser that adds Vim-style keyboard shortcuts for browsing and navigation to the browser.First, there was Vimperator, an excellent powerful extension for Firefox that made Firefox behave more like the Vim text editor. Then came the Chrome extension Vimium which concentrated on bringing keyboard shortcuts to the Chrome browser.VimFx is modeled after the Chrome extension. While not as powerful as Vimperator, it is a lot easier to use as a consequence as it concentrates on improving browsing and navigation by introducing new keyboard shortcuts to the Firefox web browser.VimFxVimFx introduces a massive number of new keyboard shortcuts to Firefox, and this can certainly be intimidating at first.A good starting point is to press “?” on the keyboard to display the shortcut cheat sheet that lists them all. You will notice that you may not need them all, but that several may speed up how you use the browser.Generally speaking, shortcuts are made up of one to three characters on the keyboard that you type to execute a command.A tap on “t” opens a new tab page, “j” and “k” scroll down and up, “o” focuses the location bar, “yy” copies the URL, and “s” stops the loading of the page for instance. Some keyboard shortcuts require upper case letters which makes them a bit harder to type quickly. The shortcut “aR” for instance reloads all browser tabs, and “gx$” closes all tabs to the right of the active tab.PreferencesVimFx ships with options to change the mapping of any keyboard shortcut. If you prefer only lower case shortcuts, or shortcuts without special characters, then you may modify them to your liking in the options. You may also unmap shortcuts by leaving them blank in the options. This is useful to prevent executing an associated action by accident for instance, or simply to improve the readability of the shortcuts listing in the options.VimFX reflects all changes on the cheat sheet so that it is easier to use as well once you start removing shortcuts that you have no interest in.You find additional preferences at the top of the options page. First, you may add URLs to a blacklist to prevent the extension’s keyboard shortcuts from working on those pages. This is mostly useful when these shortcuts cause issues on websites, as it prevents them from happening when you access the sites. You may prevent the auto-focusing of text inputs in the options as well. Keyboard shortcuts won’t work if a text input is focused, as characters you type are added to the text field instead. The option is not enabled by default as it changes Firefox’s default way of handling text input fields.A third useful option lets you add new previous and next link patterns. The shortcuts “[” and “]” click on previous or next links on pages, and patterns are used to identify those links. The extension searches for “prev”, “next” or “more” links on a page automatically, and you may add your own patterns to previous and next fields if sites use different names for those.Closing WordsVimFx is a handy usability extension for Firefox that is like the little brother extension of Vimperator. The list of shortcuts it offers may be overwhelming at first but you won’t need all of them. The extension is useful, even if you use only a handful of shortcuts to speed things up.Summary12345 Author Rating3 based on 10 votes Software Name VimFxSoftware Category BrowserLanding Page https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/vimfx/ Advertisement

when local fire departments called in Koseki and his colleagues The team immediately suspected self-ignition spontaneous combustion that occurs when mounds of organic material like mulch and hay heat up internally until they catch fire They searched burn sites for materials that might have ignited collecting samples of wood chips industrial sludge and fresh and rotten tatami a commonly used floor covering made of rice straw Using calorimeters and other thermal measuring devices they observed how the samples responded to the temperature and moisture conditions likely to develop inside a rubble pile warming under the sun and exposed to the elements Rotting tatami posed the greatest fire risk the researchers found followed by fresh tatami and wood chips The key is microbial activity they determined Under the right conditions bacterial fermentation begins inside a mound of rubble generating small amounts of heat With poor air circulation the biochemical reactions create a feedback loop heating and reheating the mound until it ignites Paradoxically adding water increases a pile’s chances of flaring up by allowing microbes to simmer at temperatures that would kill them in dry piles The sludge samples themselves didn’t generate much heat but the moisture they contained could still help other materials ignite the researchers found Within a certain range of temperature and moisture conditions—even after months of inactivity—a rubble pile rich in tatami debris can smolder back to life they concluded “The topic is fascinating” says Guillermo Rein a mechanical engineer at Imperial College London who wasn’t connected to the study He applauds the authors’ approach but he cautions that they left out one important factor that changes radically from one site to the next in Japan: the size of the pile “There is what is called a critical size” he says Because of how heat transfers only piles larger than this critical size will ignite meaning rearranging debris into smaller piles could prevent fires from breaking out Because disasters like this are so rare the results shouldn’t influence how people dispose of their tatami mats Koseki says but they could help authorities prevent similar fires after future disasters Some clear steps include monitoring the internal temperature of rubble piles and scattering them before heat from fermentation builds up to dangerous levels The cleanup from the disaster continues Koseki says it could take years to remove the remaining rubble piles—and some are especially risky “We have to take care because there are huge amounts of materials around the Fukushima nuclear plant” he says concerned that radioactive materials in the debris could be released into the atmosphere all over again if ignitedJhargram: West Bengal chief orbit Yet even it cannot control all of the lethal variablestechnical meteorological humanthat make space travel such a dicey game The practice of non-professionals insinuating themselves into the space business is not new We have a launch facility at Cape Canaveral yet built a Mission Control center halfway across the country in Houstonthe least efficient most senseless arrangement imaginablebecause then-Vice President Lyndon Johnson was the White House point man for the space program and he wanted his home state of Texas to get a bite of the big moon pie Ex-Sen Jake Garn and current Sen Bill Nelson both elbowed their way aboard space shuttle flights since unlike all of the other American kids who want to play spaceman they were powerful figures in Congress and could loosen or tighten NASA’s purse strings at will Once NASA announced that after the shuttle program ended in 2011 it would be outsourcing the low Earth orbit portion of its portfolio to the private sector it was inevitable that there would be a scramble of companies vying for those contractsand that’s by no means all bad In some respects space has always been privatized: North American Aviation jeffrey_kluger@timemagazinecomHillary Clinton conceded defeat in the 2016 presidential election on Wednesday morning calling on her supporters to give Donald Trump “an open mind and the chance to lead” A day after her supporters gathered beneath a glass ceiling at the Jacob K Javits Convention Center in New York City she addressed a smaller crowd of staff and supporters in a ballroom at the New Yorker Hotel Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta appeared without Clinton at her election night rally announcing that she would wait to speak until all votes were counted After being introduced by her running mate Tim Kaine she voiced gratitude and hope for the future She appeared to choke up as she addressed women in particular nodding to the historic nature of her candidacy “I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion” she said “And to all the little girls who are watching this never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams” Read her full remarks here: KAINE: My wife Anne and I are so proud of Hillary Clinton (APPLAUSE) I’m proud of Hillary Clinton because she has been and is a great history maker in every thing that she has done as a civil rights lawyer and first lady of Arkansas and first lady of this country and senator and secretary of state KAINE: She has made history In a nation that is good at so many things but that has made it uniquely difficult for women to be elected to federal office she became the first major party nominee as a woman to be president and last night won the popular vote of Americans for the president (APPLAUSE) That is an amazing accomplishment It is an amazing accomplishment I’m proud of Hillary Clinton because in the words of Langston Hughes she’s “held fast to dreams” She was inspired at a young age to an epiphany that if families and children do well that’s the best barometer of whether society does well In everything she’s done she’s focused on that We know she would have made history as a president in one sense but we never have had a president who’s made their whole career about the empowerment of families and children And I was as excited about that in the Oval Office as I was excited to have my friend Hillary there and make history as the first woman president I’m excited and proud of Hillary because she has built such a wonderful team There is a… (APPLAUSE) There’s a beautiful and kind of comical parable in the New Testament about a vineyard owner who hires people to work and says I’m going to pay you this for a full day Then he hires people at noon I’m going to pay you the same thing for the half day Then he hires people one hours work I’m going to pay you the same And those who started earlier in the day said hold on we don’t like this that you’re treating everybody who came late just as well as you’re treating us I’m going to tell you something here’s what I’ve come to know so well about Hillary The team that she has assembled over the years of people that are so deeply loyal to her because she’s so deeply loyal to them is inspiring But I’ve seen that same degree of loyalty and compassion and sensitivity extended to the most recent folks who have joined the team the folks who came to the vineyard with just one hour to go Her loyalty and compassion of Hillary and Bill to people if you’re with you you’re with you And that is just something so remarkable And finally I’m proud of Hillary because she loves this country (APPLAUSE) Nobody — nobody had to wonder about Hillary Clinton whether she would accept an outcome of an election in our beautiful democracy Nobody had to ask that question Nobody had to doubt it She knows our country for what it is She knows the system that we have and its warts and blemishes She’s deeply in love with it and accepts it She’s been in battles before where if it didn’t go her way she accepted it but then woke up the next day and battled again for the dreams that she’s held fast to And that love of country is something that I think is obvious to everybody obvious to everyone I want to thank Hillary Clinton for asking Anne and I to join this wild ride We — about a week before she asked if I would be her running mate Anne and I went up to Westchester and we sat down with Hillary and Bill and with Chelsea and Mark and with Charlotte and Aiden for about three hours of conversation to try to determine whether we would be the right people to be on the ticket And when we got in the car to head back to the airport after the three hour discussion I said to Anne “Honey I don’t know whether we’re going to be on this ticket or not but I do know this we’re going to remember that three hours for the rest of our life” And now we’ve — we’ll remember 105 days that we’ve had with this fantastic couple of public servants and all of you for the rest of our life I’ll just say this Hillary and I know well the wisdom and the words of William Faulkner He said “They kilt us but they ain’t whupped us yet” (APPLAUSE) “They kilt us but they ain’t whupped us yet” because we know that the work remains We know that the dreams of empowering families and children remain And in that work that important work that we have to do as a nation it is so comforting even at a tough time to know that Hillary Clinton is somebody until her very last breath is going to be battling for the values that make this nation great and the values that we care so deeply about KAINE: So now please join me in welcoming Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton (APPLAUSE) CLINTON: Thank you Thank you all Thank you (APPLAUSE) Thank you all very much Thank you Thank you Thank you so much (APPLAUSE) Very rowdy group Thank you my friends Thank you Thank you thank you so very much for being here and I love you all too Last night I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans This is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for and I’m sorry that we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for our country But I feel pride and gratitude for this wonderful campaign that we built together this vast diverse creative unruly energized campaign You represent the best of America and being your candidate has been one of the greatest honors of my life (APPLAUSE) I know how disappointed you feel because I feel it too and so do tens of millions of Americans who invested their hopes and dreams in this effort This is painful and it will be for a long time but I want you to remember this Our campaign was never about one person or even one election it was about the country we love and about building an America that’s hopeful inclusive and big-hearted We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought But I still believe in America and I always will And if you do then we must accept this result and then look to the future Donald Trump is going to be our president We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead Our constitutional democracy enshrines the peaceful transfer of power and we don’t just respect that we cherish it It also enshrines other things; the rule of law the principle that we are all equal in rights and dignity freedom of worship and expression We respect and cherish these values too and we must defend them (APPLAUSE) Now — and let me add our constitutional democracy demands our participation not just every four years but all the time So let’s do all we can to keep advancing the causes and values we all hold dear; making our economy work for everyone not just those at the top protecting our country and protecting our planet and breaking down all the barriers that hold any American back from achieving their dreams CLINTON: We’ve spent a year and a half bringing together millions of people from every corner of our country to say with one voice that we believe that the American dream is big enough for everyone — for people of all races and religions for men and women for immigrants for LGBT people and people with disabilities For everyone (APPLAUSE) So now our responsibility as citizens is to keep doing our part to build that better stronger fairer America we seek And I know you will I am so grateful to stand with all of you I want to thank Tim Kaine and Anne Holton for being our partners on this journey (APPLAUSE) It has been a joy getting to know them better and it gives me great hope and comfort to know that Tim will remain on the front lines of our democracy representing Virginia in the Senate (APPLAUSE) To Barack and Michelle Obama our country owes you an enormous debt of gratitude (APPLAUSE) We — we thank you for your graceful determined leadership that has meant so much to so many Americans and people across the world And to Bill and Chelsea Mark Charlotte Aidan our brothers and our entire family my love for you means more than I can ever express You crisscrossed this country on our behalf and lifted me up when I needed it most — even four-month-old Aidan who traveled with his mom I will always be grateful to the creative talented dedicated men and women at our headquarters in Brooklyn and across our country (APPLAUSE) You poured your hearts into this campaign For some of you who are veterans it was a campaign after you had done other campaigns Some of you it was your first campaign I want each of you to know that you were the best campaign anybody could have ever expected or wanted (APPLAUSE) And to the millions of volunteers community leaders activists and union organizers who knocked on doors talked to neighbors posted on Facebook even in secret private Facebook sites… (LAUGHTER) (APPLAUSE) … I want everybody coming out from behind that and make sure your voices are heard going forward (APPLAUSE) To everyone who sent in contributions as small at $5 and kept us going thank you Thank you from all of us And to the young people in particular I hope you will hear this I have as Tim said spent my entire adult life fighting for what I believe in I’ve had successes and I’ve had setbacks Sometimes really painful ones Many of you are at the beginning of your professional public and political careers You will have successes and setbacks too This loss hurts but please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it (APPLAUSE) CLINTON: It is — it is worth it (APPLAUSE) And so we need — we need you to keep up these fights now and for the rest of your lives And to all the women and especially the young women who put their faith in this campaign and in me I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion (APPLAUSE) Now I — I know — I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling but some day someone will and hopefully sooner than we might think right now (APPLAUSE) And — and to all the little girls who are watching this never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams Finally… (APPLAUSE) Finally I am so grateful for our country and for all it has given to me I count my blessings every single day that I am an American And I still believe as deeply as I ever have that if we stand together and work together with respect for our differences strength in our convictions and love for this nation our best days are still ahead of us (APPLAUSE) Because you know — you know I believe we are stronger together and we will go forward together And you should never ever regret fighting for that You know scripture tells us “Let us not grow weary in doing good for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” So my friends let us have faith in each other let us not grow weary let us not lose heart for there are more seasons to come And there is more work to do I am incredibly honored and
